IMMIGRANT WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP NETWORK (IWEN)
ISANS’ Immigrant Women Entrepreneurship Network (IWEN) aims to amplify the voices of immigrant and refugee women entrepreneurs in Nova Scotia by giving them opportunities to develop and/or enhance their current entrepreneurial skills on the road to becoming independent business owners.
As a participant of the IWEN, you will receive:
- 10 weeks of focused and hands-on training on starting/running a business
- Foundational health and safety training as it applies to your business
- Ongoing, one-on-one business counselling with an ISANS Business Counsellor
- Free promotion on ISANS Business Hub and social media
- An opportunity to showcase and sell your products at local markets, at no or minimal cost
- Help applying for micro loans and financial resources
- Opportunities to network with experienced women entrepreneurs, mentors, and established business institutions
To join the IWEN, you must:
- Be an immigrant and refugee woman who is at least 19 years old (including: international students, closed and open work-permit holders, permanent residents, and citizens born outside Canada)
- Be an ISANS client
- Have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 5 or higher

Relax and rejuvenate with a yoga session at the Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre, designed to help you recharge and stay focused on your business goals.
Halifax Accelerators Tour: Mid-October
Discover the startup accelerators and organizations in Halifax and build connections that can support your business journey. This tour is organized in collaboration with Onside.
Podcast Recording: End of October
Share your entrepreneurial story in a podcast recording session at Tribe Network’s office. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your journey and inspire others.
Networking Event: Early November
Connect with fellow entrepreneurs at a networking event hosted in collaboration with Propel ICT. This event is perfect for expanding your business network.
Roundtable with Experts: Mid-November
Engage in a roundtable discussion with two successful women entrepreneurs. This is your chance to ask questions and gain insights from experienced business leaders.
Vendor Market: End of November
You will be able to showcase your products and services at a vendor market.
Focus Group: End of November
Help us better understand the needs and challenges of immigrant women entrepreneurs by participating in a focus group. Your input will shape future initiatives and support.
